A-Trak - Dirty South Remixes (2007)

A-Trak, aka Alain Macklovitch is a Montreal-based DJ and turntablist. He won the DMCs World DJ Championship in 1997 at the age of 15, making him both the youngest and first Canadian winner of the competition. He was also the first to win all three major championships - International Turntablist Federation (ITF), Disco Mix Club (DMC), and Vestax World Extravaganza; and the first to win five world championship competitions, all before he was 18. The turntablist wunderkind has made himself a pioneer in this subculture of hip-hop just within a few years. Pretty impressive. He set up his label Fool's Gold Records and now producers a mash up of electro, hip-hop, hip-house and something people called new-beat. Don't ask I have no idea. What he does so well though, as you'd expect being a turntablist, is grab loops from more current electro hits such as Alex Gopher's 'Motorcycle' (I posted the original a month or so ago here) and The Gossip, overlay a new beat, get some new rhymes laid over the top and voilà! There you have it.

Tracklisting:

3. Frenchies Act A Fool
