I haven't forgotten...

Just completely rammed with work at the moment, long days and late nights. Hoping the pressure will ease at the end of this week when I'll set aside some time to record some more vinyl from the depths of my basement.

Thanks for stopping by.

Green Velvet - La La Land (2001)

This was such a tune back in 2001, remember it so well and also the fact that we sold over 100 copies of it in the shop. There was a number of tunes around the same kind of time such at the The Horrorist. I'll post that one later, but they all revolved around consuming MDMA, staying up all night and other dark twisted connotations. The flipside remix is more traditional techno mix but still sounds ok.

Tracklisting:

1. La La Land (Extended Mix) (5:19)
2. La La Land (Geo Vogt Mix) (5:11)

Nathan Fake - Watlington Street EP (2004)

I've been looking for my copy of this for ages, got to the point where I started questioning whether I ever owned a copy! Found it this morning so my sanity is no longer in question. This awesome double pack was released on Satoshi Tomiie's label Saw Recordings around the time of Nathan's debut release 'Outhouse' on James Holden's Border Community imprint. Now I posted the Charlie May album 'Bug' not that long ago so if that was floating your boat then get on this.

Tracklisting:

1. Adamedge (9:11)
2. Bored Of House (9:37)
3. Underberg (9:09)
4. Overdraft (4:00)
5. Peary Land (5:56)

Kraftwerk - The Model (Remix) (2006)

Another Kraftwerk re-work, a couple of years old and in a deep progressive house style. Not bad at all.

Tracklisting:

2. The Model (Instrumental)

A Homeboy, A Hippie & A Funki Dredd - Total Confusion (1990)

This tune tore it up back in 1990, it was one the biggest rave tunes of the year and was produced by Casper Pound who later went on to start Rising High Records and Harthouse UK. One of the most influential contributors to the UK dance scene, in particular trance and techno. Sadly he passed away at the age of 33 of a brain tumor, I recommend you read this about him on discogs.

Tracklisting:

1. Total Confusion (Confusion Mix) (5:36)
2. Total Confusion (Heavenly Mix) (7:19)
3. Total Confusion (Reprise) (2:16)

Björk - Pagan Poetry (Infusion Remix) (2002)

Copies of this rare single sided bootleg exchange for over 50 quid these days according to Discogs. Being a Björk fan I slipped one of these into my private stash when it came through the office all those years ago. Still sounds so great even now.

Tracklisting:

1. Björk - Pagan Poetry (Infusion Remix)

Orbital - Illuminate (2001)

Double promo pack which featured the unlikely combination of David Gray and Orbital. Features a great Orbital 12" mix which rings David's vocals through a vocoder. Also a Charlie May mix which is not that inspiring but I found solace in the darker Medicine and Dark Globe mixes.

Tracklisting:

1. Illuminate (Orbital 12" Mix) (6:41)
2. Illuminate (Charlie May Mix) (8:58)
3. Illuminate (Medicine Mix) (5:58)

Hybrid Featuring Peter Hook - True To Form (2003)

Featuring the very distinctive sound of New Order's Peter Hook who's bass player prowess combines really quite nicely with Hybrid's breaks. Also includes the more progressive house remix by John Creamer & Stephane K.

Tracklisting:

1. True To Form (Original Mix) (9:09)

Paul Hardcastle - Rain Forest (1985)

Paul Hardcastle was never pop's best looking fella so I'm not so sure putting his dial on an album cover was ever going to be the best move. Besides the questionable art direction the musical content is without doubt some of the best British electro ever. Paul went on to release the single '19' then went down the housey jazz route under the guise Jazzmasters, and was bigger in Japan and America than anywhere else.

I've just had an email from 'anonymous' to tell me that he in fact had 12 number one hits and that I'm an idiot for not doing my research. Does this cloaked crusader mean that he went number one with '19' in 12 different countries?? Not sure that the claim of 12 single number one hits can be quantified or even perhaps he means '12 number one hits' on his local smooth jazz radio station???

As I said, for those of us who aren't fans of Kenny G and the likes I'll stand by my claim that we didn't see the very best of Paul. I would have loved to see him develop into other genres. Besides all that, the album has scratches but it all adds to the experiences of 1985. Enjoy.

Tracklisting:

1. Rain Forest (Remix) (5:42)
2. King Tut (4:38)
3. Panic (4:29)
4. Forest Fire (7:30)
5. Loitering With Intent (4:10)

Ellen Allien & Apparat - Turbo Dreams (2006)

Tracklisting:

1. Turbo Dreams (Long Version) (6:48)
2. Turbo Dreams (Pier Bucci Remix) (7:49)
3. Turbo Dreams (Marc Houle Jackit Mix) (5:10)

BT - ESCM (1997)

This is one of those records that just bring back so many good clubbing memories for me. The year was 1997 and a young Californian production genius starts making friends with Sasha and another relative unknown at the time, Paul van Dyk. BT aka Brian Transeau signed to Paul Oakenfold's Perfecto imprint and this was his 2nd album. It has the trance classic 'Flaming June' and more electronic wizardy in tunes like 'Solar Plexus' and 'Firewater' and 'The Road To Lostwithiel'. Love it.

Tracklisting:

1. Firewater (8:44)
2. Orbitus Teranium (8:11)
3. Flaming June (8:25)

Siriusmo - Sirius EP (2003)

I've been posting a bit of Siriusmo's stuff over the past few months and this is the earliest release I have in my possession. Admittedly I was hunting down older stuff since being introduced to his more recent synthetic funk type work. This release still has that flavour but in a more housey fashion.

1. U-Again (2:33)
2. Warum Bist Du Gegangen (3:56)
3. Cuba (4:24)

Apparat - Berlin, Montreal, Tel Aviv (Selected Live Recordings) (2006)

Have never been completely convinced with the quality of the audio on these recordings, they were recorded live and you very much get the sense that's the case. That aside, they're all great tunes with the crowing moment for me being Tel Aviv on the flip.
