Burial & Four Tet - Moth / Wolf Club (2009)

Jesus wept this is just so good! I just managed to secure my copy and already they hype around it is continuing to build. What a dream team combination I must say and all the talk is justified in my humble opinion. Going to be hard for any other tune to beat it this month. Now would be a good time to turn this up.
Tracklisting:

1. Moth
2. Wolf Club

Orbital vs. Georgetown - Slush (2004)

The mashup, bootleg breaks series from 2002-2004 continues with yet another Orbital sample. Now the original tune 'Lush' appeared on arguably the best Orbital album ever, 'The Brown Album', whoever was behind this series has only taken a snippit from the original intro of the tune but still sounds friggin' great.

Tracklisting:

1. Slush

LCD Soundsystem - Disco Infiltrator (2005)

The electronic and production master François Kevorkian adds his golden touch. Going to post more DFA Records I reckon people, going through another phase which might even see me get out my mint green DFA sweatshirt out of the top common, much to my wife's disgust no doubt.

Tracklisting:

1. Disco Infiltrator (FK's Infiltrated Vocal)
2. Disco Infiltrator (FK's Infiltrated Dub)

DJ Shadow - Mashin' On The Motorway (2005)

The first tune GDMFSOB or God Damn Mother Fucking Son of a Bitch is the highlight for me, the UNKLE remix featuring the vocals of Roots Manuva (hands up who likes him, I have plenty here) just making it a quality package. The rest is all good too, some great remixes and bonus beats courtesy of Z-Trip.

Tracklisting:

1. GDMFSOB (UNKLE Uncensored)
2. Right Thing (Tokio Ghetto Tech Remix)
3. Walkie Talkie (Radio Edit)
4. Right Thing (Z-Trip 'Set The Party Off Mix' In Three Parts)
5. Six Days (Soulwax Remix)

Echopark presents No More - Suicide Commando (1998)

11 years ago I found this gem discarded in a sale bin in Notting Hill. I bought it on the fact that Thorsten Stenzel had co-produced it and hoped it was one of his less popular house type tunes. Phil Fuldner was also involved in the production and he also makes some interesting stuff at times. Anyway these two Germans have taken the old song recorded by No More in 1981 and made it something very special. I did a little digging around and the original tune is rare and also quite a cult classic, (this record itself it worth over £30 now @ Discogs, such a nice feeling to have paid a quid for it and had one over those anorak, know-all types that use to hangout behind the counter at Reckless Records) so much so that there's a website set up in its honor, check it here and enjoy the A side of this.

Tracklisting:

1. Suicide Commando (Extended Clubmix) (6:58)
2. Suicide Commando (New York Mix) (6:00)
3. Suicide Commando (New York Cut) (3:05)

The Killers - Mr.Brightside (2003)

Always had a soft spot for this Killers tune. Not a massive fan of there's but this is just good pop music with a equally good house remix by Madonna's 'special friend' Jacques Lu Cont.

Tracklisting:

1. Mr. Brightside (Jacques Lu Cont's Thin White Duke Mix)
2. Mr. Brightside (The Lindbergh Palace Club Remix)
3. Mr. Brightside (Jacques Lu Cont's Thin White Duke Dub)
4. Mr. Brightside (The Lindbergh Palace Radio Remix)

New Order - Waiting For The Sirens' Call / Bizarre Love Triangle (2005)

A couple of more recent New Order remixes. Liked the album 'Waiting For The Sirens Call', loved New Order, saw them play for the last time in Brixton Academy a few years ago with Arthur Baker spinning tunes beforehand. What a great night it was.

Tracklisting:

2. Bizarre Love Triangle (Richard X Remix) (4:18)

Death In Vegas - Milk It - The Remixes (2004)

Took a while for this double pack to grow on me but listening to the entire thing today just reminded me what a kick ass package it is. A real mixed bag of different styles and featuring everyone from Liam Gallagher to Bobby Gillespie through to Dave Clark and Slam. Loving the track 'Twist & Crawl' too. All quite dark in nature but you'll soon embrace it.

The Pump Panel - Confusion (1995)

Loved this review in discogs, kind of says it all really:

"Featured in the movie BLADE. This is a really dirty little nugget of blood-drenched acid techno, just the way I like it. A long tune, minimal and hypnotic with a massive breakdown/build up, a great bit of distorted 303 action and top quality (heavily vocoded) vocals from New Order. Play on a gig soundsystem at high volume and high speed for maximum effect. Not suitable for vegetarians."

Tracklisting:

1. Confusion (Reconstruction Mix)
2. Confusion (Floatation Mix)

Timo Maas feat. MC Chickaboo - Shifter (2002)

Have always been a fan of Timo Maas ever since his more harder techno days in the mid to late 90's. Took a different path and embraced breaks and progressive more than most and was soon the darling of the DJ scene. This was at his popular heights and features the vocals of MC Chickaboo who has done stuff on loads of underground drum'n'bass, house, garage, breaks, the list goes on and on.

Tracklisting:

1. Shifter (Full Vocal Mix) (5:34)
2. Shifter (Scanty Mix) (7:45)

James Holden - One For You (2001)

Just jump straight to the Oliver Klein remix and make sure that your sub woofer is on for maximum effect. I've played this in clubs before and watched shit shake. Still sounds as offensive as it always did.

Tracklisting:

1. One For You (Brancaccio & Aisher Suicide Sports Dub) (9:49)
2. One For You (Oliver Klein Remix) (9:03)

Joy Division - She's Lost Control / Atmosphere (1980)

Can't really say much about this one only that it still gives me goose bumps. If you cant appreciate it for the genius which is Ian Curtis and Martin Hannett you're probably on the wrong blog.

1. She's Lost Control
2. Atmosphere

LCD Soundsystem - Losing My Edge (2002)

How fucking good is this tune?! I mean, this is genius from James Murphy and every time I listen to the lyrics they just make me smile. If anyone wants to hear an example of electro clash done well then play this to them. This is the benchmark in my world, and no one has come close since. Love it.

Tracklisting:

1. Losing My Edge
2. Beat Connection

When In Rome - The Promise (1987)

Now a couple of weeks ago I posted the old Ultravox tune and I'm thinking that Nolan over at Castles In Space is going to like this one too. Was used in the film Napoleon Dynamite back in 2004 and at which stage reminded me how much I use to love it back in 1988.

And please be sure to check out Mr Micron's blog please, one of my favourites and a lot more reliable than me in updating shit. Thanks for all the support dude.

1. The Promise (O.N. Mix)
2. The Promise (Coliseum Club Mix)

Annie Lennox - Wonderful (2003)

I'm back! A break in the clouds and I've finally managed to find some time to sit down drink wine and listen to some records. Got quite a mixed bag to share tonight and I guess there is a correlation between how much Pinot I've tipped down my throat and the diverse range of musical styles.

I always loved Annie Lennox and even though she's about as pop as you get she still has a wonderful voice. This was released 5 or so years ago. The 2nd track Pavement Cracks is just so unoffensive and nice. The B side or track 3 is also a nice piece of progressive trance from Gabriel & Dresden if you're that way inclined.

Tracklisting:

1. Wonderful (Album Version) (4:16)
2. Pavement Cracks (Goldtrix Full Vocal Mix) (6:34)
3. A Thousand Beautiful Things (Gabriel & Dresden Tech Funk Mix) (9:03)
