Ramadanman - Humber (2009)

More Ramadanman and perhaps my favourite release from him. This is where things start to get interesting as far as I'm concerned. I'm not going to say this lightly, but this is perhaps a genre defining release. Reminds me of Chicago house/techno producer Eddie Flashin Fowlkes in places mixed together with a rather hypnotic 2 step arrangement. All good.

Ramadanman - Carla (2008)

Ramadanman is North Londoner David Kennedy. Another one of these young kids who has spent all his time on Fruity Loops and in doing so has forged a unqie style all of his own. To me it embraces the dubstep sound with tech and minimal sensibilities. Shit, I like all those genres and hearing his stuff the past few weeks I've been really impressed.

This release appears on Soho based record store Soul Jazz Record's own imprint and first appeared back in 2008. This particular release combines the grime sound more so than others but all 3 tracks float my boat.

Tis' the season of longhaul flying...

Hello all. I'm going to post a couple of tunes today and then I'll need to wrap up for 2009. This Saturday I'm off to Sweden for Christmas via Singpore, London and Copenhagen. 30 odd hours of travel hell.

I'll be settling into life at the in-laws (see picture below) before swinging through London for a few days, where I hope to catch up with a few of you, before another testing journey all the way back to New Zealand in the 2nd week of January.

Thanks to everyone who has supported the blog over the past year. There's been a few peaks and troughs I know as far as my postings are concerned. I've also had to grapple with work and family life commitments but I'll keep ripping and posting in 2010.

Wishing you all a safe and Merry Christmas.

Carry on.

Tone.
